Start with the source and contamination
A supply-line leak is not evaluated like a sewage backup or outdoor flood. Porous materials that absorbed contaminated water carry a different cleaning and exposure problem. The longer any water sits, the farther it can migrate and the more likely material condition will change.
Drywall: sometimes dryable, sometimes a necessary opening
Limited clean-water wetting may be dried in place when the board remains sound, the cavity is accessible, and wet insulation is not trapped behind it. Fiberglass or cellulose insulation can hold water inside a closed cavity and may be more practical to remove than to dry in place.
